Ogun Govt, Daniel Clash Over Property Sealing: Commissioner Denies Action as Fresh Notices Appear

Sagamu, Ogun State – A growing controversy has emerged over the alleged sealing of properties belonging to former Governor Gbenga Daniel, with state officials giving conflicting accounts about the enforcement action.

The Commissioner for Urban and Physical Planning, in a statement to journalists on Monday, denied any knowledge of the sealing. “I am not aware of the sealing of any of Otunba Gbenga Daniel’s property,” he stated.

This denial comes despite claims by Daniel’s aide that the sprawling Asoludero Court, Conference Hotels and its annex in Sagamu’s Government Reserved Area had been sealed by state authorities.

Our correspondent who visited the properties found no visible government seals, but observed fresh notices dated August 11, 2025, posted on the premises. The notices appear to be follow-ups to earlier enforcement documents served last Friday by the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority.

The initial notices had cited violations of the Ogun State Urban and Regional Planning Law (No. 61 of 2022), giving a 24-hour ultimatum to produce valid permits or face demolition.

When pressed for clarification about the apparent discrepancy between the aide’s claims and the physical inspection findings, the commissioner declined to provide additional details.

The situation remains unclear as both sides present conflicting narratives, with the former governor’s camp insisting on the sealing while state officials maintain no such action was taken.
