Odogbolu LG Chairman, Diya Cracks Down on Land Grabbers, Safeguards Investors’ Property

Ogun State – In a bold move to enforce the Ogun State Government’s directives on land administration, the Executive Chairman of Odogbolu Local Government, Hon. (Dr.) Babatunde Oyetola Diya has taken decisive action to protect the investment interests of HALIFAMOUS INTERNATIONAL, a company owned by Nigerians based in Ireland.

The intervention followed a formal petition from HALIFAMOUS INTERNATIONAL, which had legally acquired 10 acres of land in Odogbolu Local Government for agricultural purposes. After clearing the land for farming, the company was reportedly prevented from accessing it by suspected land grabbers.

Upon investigation by a committee set up by the Local Government, it was confirmed that the property had been illegally encroached upon, violating the Ogun State Anti-Land Grabbing Law (2016), also known as the Property Protection Law.

In response, Hon. Diya ordered a joint enforcement operation involving Local Government officials, the Land and Boundaries Committee (led by Vice Chairperson Princess Victoria Olusola), the Secretary to the Local Government, Deacon Stanley Olunogun, the General Manager, Office of Public-Private Partnership, Prince Adeleke Adebajo, the Supervisor for Works and Housing, Hon. Oluwafemi Amusa, and the Director of General Services and Administration, Otunba Bolujoko Micheal. The team was supported by security operatives from the Nigeria Police Force, Amotekun Corps, and the Odogbolu Security Team*, led by Mr. Taiwo Banwo.

During the operation, the encroached land was successfully reclaimed, and a public notice was erected, stating:

“This Land Lawfully Belongs to ODOGBOLU LOCAL GOVERNMENT / HALIFAMOUS INTERNATIONAL – Trespassers Will Be Prosecuted.”

One of the alleged land grabbers, Mr. Oluwaseun Durojaiye, who had been illegally renting out portions of the land, was issued a cease and desist order and warned to vacate immediately. Authorities emphasised that any further trespassing would lead to prosecution under the law.

Hon. (Dr.) Babatunde Oyetola Diya praised the security teams for their swift response and reassured investors—both local and international—that Odogbolu Local Government remains open for business with full protection from the government.

“Our administration will not tolerate any form of land-related criminality. We are committed to enforcing the law and ensuring a safe environment for investors. Let this serve as a strong warning to violators—the era of impunity is over,” the Chairman declared.
