The Chairman, Transition Committee, Odeda Local Government, Hon, Semiu Bola Lawal has again emphasized the importance of security of lives and properties of the people of the council area to his administration.
This he said during the courtesy visit of the Ogun State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Hammed Abodurim to the Local Government recently.
The Chairman who was represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Musiliu Akindele, applauded the recent transformation experienced in the activities of the Corps, he noted with pleasure the successes recorded in the protection of pipelines and other government properties.
The Council boss, thereafter pledged his administration’s support to enhance their operations,, adding that socio- political and economic development can only thrive in a peaceful environment.
The State Commandant, earlier in his Speech extolled the synergy that existed between the Civil Defence Corps and other sister agencies in the local government. He thereafter, tasked officers and men of the Corps to brace up for the Security challenges posed by the nearness of the local government to neighbouring state. This he ascribed to overflow of insurgence and other criminal activities into the council area.
Commandant Abodurin, during the visit encouraged the people of the council to volunteer information as this is key to securing their lives and properties by the Civil Defence Corps. He also pointed out that plans are underway to introduce a training programme in the School Curriculum to train teachers and students tagged: ‘Massive Public Security Education’ which is to bridge the security gap between the public and the Corps.
He further laid emphasis on the importance of Community Development Areas ( CDAs) as a platform to propagate the need for serious security consciousness.
Digntaries at the event include members of the Transition Committee, Head of Local Government Administration, Mrs Taiwo Akintomide, Directors and Heads of Departments as well as other principal officers of the council. The Commandant was also accompanied by other heads of Security Agencies in the local government, including the Police, DSS, TRACE and VIS
