Ifo LG Muslim Community Holds 15th Annual Ramadan Lecture

The Muslim Community of Ifo Local Government successfully hosted its 15th Annual Ramadan Lecture on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at the Local Government Secretariat. The event, themed *“The Impact of Good Governance on National Development: Islamic Perspective,”* drew a large gathering of the Muslim Ummah for a day of spiritual reflection, intellectual discourse, and communal bonding during the holy month of Ramadan.
In his opening address, the Executive Chairman of Ifo Local Government, Hon. Idris Olalekan Kusimo, emphasized the significance of the annual Ramadan lecture as a time for gratitude and self-reflection. He expressed appreciation to Allah for His blessings and thanked political appointees and career officers for their support in his efforts to drive grassroots development. Hon. Kusimo also reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling his electoral promises, stressing the importance of good governance in transforming the local government.
The guest lecturer, Imam Abdullah Gbade Akinbode, National Missioner of the Jamaa’tu Ahli Llahi Society of Nigeria, delivered an enlightening presentation on the theme. He explored Islamic principles of good governance, emphasizing justice, accountability, and service to humanity as essential pillars for effective leadership and national development.
The event also featured special prayers led by prominent Imams for the progress and prosperity of Nigeria, Ogun State, and Ifo Local Government. Prayers were offered for leaders, including Hon. Fatiu Fola Salami, Member of the Ogun State House of Assembly representing Ifo Constituency II, and Hon. Idris Olalekan Kusimo, seeking divine guidance and blessings for their leadership roles.
The well-attended lecture served as a platform for spiritual enrichment, intellectual engagement, and communal unity, reinforcing the values of good governance and collective responsibility.
Dignitaries in attendance included Hon. Fatiu Fola Salami, Hon. Ganiyu Oyedeji (former Member of the Ogun State House of Assembly and current SSA to the Governor), Vice Chairman of Ifo Local Government, Hon. (Mrs.) Abibat Bola Ojo, Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Samuel Bangboye, and the Secretary to the Local Government, Mrs. Temitope Adegboyega. Also present were members of the Legislative Council, the Chairperson, Mrs. Sakirat Kusimo, and the Chairman’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Onitiri.
Other notable attendees included the Head of Local Government Administration, Mr. Fatai Ogundele, Directors, Heads of Departments, and prominent Islamic leaders such as Chief Imam of Orile Ifo, Imam Zinuraeni Olansile Taiwo; Chief Imam of Akute Land, Imam Kamoldeen Yusuf Olanrewaju; Chief Imam of Ifo Land, Imam Alli Sunusi Olude; and Imam Alli Muh’d Jumaah, Chief Imam of Ifo Local Government Secretariat Central Mosque.
