Gbenga Daniel’s Aides Accused of False Claims on Road Projects

Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State – Aides of Senator Gbenga Daniel have been accused of falsely claiming credit for ongoing road construction projects in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

The projects in question include the Awokoya Road and the Igbeba Road to Talbort Road Junction to Yidi lane flood control project. Both projects are being funded and executed by the Ogun State Government under the leadership of Governor Dapo Abiodun.

However, social media posts and statements from OGD’s aides have erroneously attributed these projects to the former governor. This has led to widespread confusion and misinformation among the public.

Local residents and concerned citizens have expressed their disappointment with these false claims. They have urged the aides to refrain from such misleading tactics and to respect the achievements of the current administration.

It is important to note that accurate information and transparency are crucial for maintaining public trust and fostering a healthy political climate. False claims and misinformation can erode public confidence and undermine the credibility of public officials.

The statement reads:

OGD’s aides, stop misleading the public on Awokoya and Igbeba Road

Either due to deliberate misinformation or ignorance, aides of Senator Gbenga Daniel have been ascribing the ongoing works on the Awokoya road and the Igbeba Road to Talbort Road Junction to Yidi lane flood control works in Ijebu Ode to their principal. One screaming headline on Facebook read: “Sen Gbenga Daniel Showcasing Development in Ijebu-Ode: The Transformation of Key Roads.” Hear the writer: “His Excellency, The Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel FNSE, FAEng has once again reinforced his reputation as a dedicated public servant committed to infrastructural development in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. Recent initiatives highlight the ongoing upgrades to critical roads in the area, specifically the Eid Praying Ground – Oladehinde Joseph Road, and LUBA Road leading to the Ogbogbo Junction.” The writer wasn’t yet done: “The Eid Praying Ground – Oladehinde Joseph Road has been identified as a vital thoroughfare that supports daily commuting and seasonal festivities, especially during the Eid celebrations…Similarly, the LUBA Road to Ogbogbo Junction is set to benefit from OGD’s push for better infrastructure.”

This is beyond embarrassing: both ongoing construction works are state projects being undertaken by Governor Dapo Abiodun. If the writer had taken the pain to read the project board conspicuously placed on the site, he would have realised that the Awokoya Road project is a sate contract awarded to Fort Hermon. He would also have noticed that the “Igbeba Road- to -Talbort Road Junction to Yidi lane and flood control” project was awarded to the same contractor by the Ogun State Government, and is to be executed within a six-month timeframe.

OGD has absolutely nothing to do with the projects. In this era of fake news where unscrupulous writers easily breed conflict, clarifications such as this are crucial to maintaining public sanity. It surely can’t be the case that Senator Daniel is so bereft of projects to attach to his name that he has to appropriate state roads and ascribe them to his person. Or that the aides committing this bare-faced fraud are too blinded by their emotions to bother to read ordinary notice boards. They definitely can read, and do read in fact. It’s just that they chose not to read in this instance, and thus drag themselves through the mud. Let’s be charitable and say that they were just having a bout of fever and won’t repeat this facade again.

Really, they shouldn’t. It’s just too embarrassing.
