Exclusive: The Amosun Mess at Mitros Suites

As Prince Adedapo Abiodun prepares to assume office at the Executive Governor of Ogun State on May 29, 2019, there are well founded indications that he will have serious rot left behind by the departing Senator Ibikunle Amosun Administration.

One of the rotten pots of the departing government is the Mitros Suites, a guest house facility owned by the governments Mitros hotel. The former Gateway Hotel Annex was reconstructed and refurbished shrouded in utmost secrecy, while the management was run hands-to-mouth.

The General Manager of Ogun State Property and Investment Corporation (OPIC), Mr. Jide Odusolu handled the reconstruction and refurbishment. Jide has also been mentioned in many other shady deals of Governor Amosun, especially in the areas of sales of land and choice properties in different parts of Ogun State.

At the end of the reconstruction of the property, which was regularly supervised by Governor Amosun himself, Jide chose to run the affairs of Mitro Suites with the appointment of senior staff to see to the day-to-day activities of the place, instead of handling it over to appropriate agency of government for management .

Rather than generate revenue into the purse the state government, the place was turned into “slaughter-slab” for jide and other senior members of Amosun’s cabinet, including the Secretary to the State Government. It was used for free to regularly host their girlfriends and concubines.

There are no proper accounting or savings of revenue ,as Jide regularly goes to the place, ask how much the accountant has at hand and collect everything without any receipt or acknowledgment.

Perhaps jide has been noticing the reluctance of the Manager of the place, who he engaged in the first instance, to be releasing money all the time without acknowledgement, Jide decided to deal with him. First he placed the manager on compulsory leave without any allegation of wrongdoing. When the manager got back from the forced leave, he was asked to resign!

With few weeks to the end of the Administration of Senator Amosun, Jide has moved in and reportedly carted away huge sum of money from Mitros Suites and at the same time doctoring the book. He has brought in a new manager from Lagos who never applied or went through interview to get the job.

Investigation reveals that the former manager has since gone underground as he expressed serious fear for his dear life.

The paramount ruler of Egbaland, Kabiyesi Adedotun Gbadebo, the Alake of Egba, got wind of the way Jide was dealing with staffers of Mitros Suites, based on intelligence reports gathered by the revered paramount ruler, he invited the Jide who promised to see the Oba and to retrace his steps, but rudely failed to see the Oba and also started persecuting the staffers the more instead of redressing or retracing his authoritarian steps.
