Breaking: PDP and its Ogun Central Senatorial Candidate lose at Court of Appeal

The Court of Appeal on Wednesday dismissed the interlocutory appeal of PDP and its Ogun Central Senatorial Candidate, Olumide Aderinokun, against the ruling of the Election Petition Tribunal that refused their request to subpoena more witnesses beyond those listed in their petition.

The PDP and its candidate had listed only two witnesses in their petition and realising in the course of the trial that the evidence of the two witnesses could not sustain their very weak petition then sought to subpoena additional 87 witnesses, contrary to the guidelines guiding election petitions which required frontloading of witnesses and their depositions on oath.

The tribunal ruled against the request and it was this ruling that was appealed and which the Court of Appeal dismissed on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Election Petition Tribunal has reserved judgement in the substantive petition.
