Awujale Palace Disowns Fake Document on Purported Meeting of Ijebu Traditional Council in 1977

The Awujale Palace on Friday expressed concern over the circulation of a fake document purported to be a Minutes of the meeting of Ijebu Traditional Council held at Itoro Hall, Ijebu-Ode on Monday, 24th October, 1977.
A statement issued by Mr. Olumide Quadri, Awujale Secretary said the purported Document already published on internet was fake.”The Palace wishes to categorically disown the document currently being circulated and published as online.
He said “Aafin Awujale that one self-styled “Otunba” Ladipo Adeokun and one Mr. Ifasola Opeodu has been sharing on the internet, a fake document purported to be the “Minutes of the meeting of Ijebu Traditional Council held at Itoro Hall, Ijebu-Ode on Monday, 24th October, 1977.”
His words “Chief Olisa of Ijebu Ode, was a member of the Ijebu Ode District Council, while Alayeluwa (Oba) S.K Adetona CFR, JP, the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland was in the Ijebu Divisional Council. Chief Olisa and Awujale were never in the same council at anytime.”
“Chief Olisa was never at anytime, a member of the Ijebu Traditional Council, even up till now.
“It was a blatant lie being peddled by obviously uninformed, exuberant and misguided people . It is an established fact, tradition and customs that some Obas that were said to have attended the meeting cannot and must not sit down together with the Awujale. They include the Liken of Iwopin, Ijebu Waterside, the Moloda of Odogbolu, Lenuwa of Ode Omi in Ijebu Waterside, Elese of Ilese and the Onitasin of Itasin.
“There was never a joint meeting between the Awujale and those mentioned above. They cannot and must not set eyes on the Awujale. No such meeting ever held.
“We challenge the people behind this false write-up to produce the official document, if any, stating where and when the meeting held and not the fabricated piece being shared on the social media.
“It is on record that the “Otunba” Ladipo Olusanya Adeokun who authored the fabricated document has been dodging the law enforcement authorities for the past one week. His partner in falsehood, Mr. Ifasola Opeodu, is from Iperu and he is man with limited knowledge of history and tradition of Iperu, and absolute lack of information concerning the history of Ijebu land. He is just a mere willing tool in the hands of his accomplice.
“Finally, we wish to warn that except the purveyors of this fake news and their collaborators desist from their shenanigans, they will be made to face the full wrath of the law, he said.
