Breaking: Police Parade Three Suspects Over Murder of Former OGTV Staff, Security Guard in Ogun

Yhe Ogun State Police Command on Wednesday paraded three suspects arrested in connection with the murder of former Ogun State Television (OGTV) staff member, Mrs. Olakitan Oyesiku, and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo, 38.
The suspects were presented to journalists at the Police Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, by the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, who disclosed that the principal suspect allegedly confessed to committing the crime in a bid to “teach her a lesson.”
According to the police commissioner, the incident occurred on June 20, 2026, at the residence of the deceased. The command received a distress report on June 21 regarding a damaged front door at the residence and a locked security house within the premises.
Upon arrival at the scene, detectives discovered the lifeless body of Adetayo inside the security house, while the body of Mrs. Oyesiku was found in a pool of blood in the living room of her residence.
CP Ojajuni revealed that a Lexus RX 330 belonging to the deceased was missing from the premises following the attack.
He explained that technical intelligence and vehicle tracking led operatives to the recovery of the stolen vehicle on June 22 in the Onikolobo area of Abeokuta South Local Government Area.
Although the vehicle’s registration plates had been removed, detectives reportedly discovered the plates concealed beneath one of the seats, enabling investigators to confirm ownership of the vehicle.
The police commissioner further disclosed that a handwritten note recovered from the crime scene was subjected to forensic examination, providing valuable leads that significantly aided the investigation.
According to him, the principal suspect, identified as Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, 22, was arrested on June 24 at a construction site in Ibara Government Reservation Area (GRA), Abeokuta, where he worked as a labourer.
Subsequent operations led to the arrest of two other suspects, Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, 27, a security guard, and Sobu Obafunsho, 36, a bricklayer.
During interrogation, Philip allegedly confessed to recruiting the two other suspects and participating in the attack.
Police investigations revealed that the suspect had previously worked as a security guard for the deceased and allegedly planned the attack following a grievance he held against her.
According to the police, the suspects overpowered the security guard to gain access to the residence before attacking and killing Mrs. Oyesiku. Adetayo was also allegedly killed during the operation before the suspects fled with the deceased’s vehicle.
The command said several exhibits were recovered during the investigation, including a broken hammer, cutlass, wooden plank, black pen, and other items believed to be connected to the crime.
CP Ojajuni stated that investigations are still ongoing to consolidate evidence and ensure diligent prosecution of all persons connected with the case.
“While the suspects have made useful statements and substantial evidence has been recovered, investigation is ongoing to ensure diligent prosecution of all suspects connected with the crime,” the police commissioner said.
He added that the suspects remain entitled to due process under the law while the investigation continues.
The gruesome killing of the former broadcaster has generated widespread reactions across Ogun State, with residents and members of the media community calling for justice for the victims.
