Breaking: Akinlade-Ogundele Group Endorses Tinubu for Second Term, Abiodun for Senate in 2027

ABEOKUTA – A prominent political bloc within Ogun State, the Akinlade/Ogundele Political Group, has publicly declared its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election and Governor Dapo Abiodun’s transition to the Senate in the 2027 general elections.

The position was announced in a press statement read by the former Chairman of the Ogun State Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Dr. Mojeed-Ekelojumati Oladele, at an event held at the Neugate Hotel in the Agbeloba area of Abeokuta.
In a statement issued on Tuesday and jointly signed by its leaders, Hon. Adekunle Abdulkabir Akinlade and Hon. Sikirulai Ogundele, Ph.D., the group stated that its position followed a thorough review of the performances of both the national and state administrations.
The group praised President Tinubu’s “bold economic reforms,” infrastructure focus, and social interventions such as the student loan scheme, stating these policies demonstrate “clear leadership and genuine commitment to national progress.”
Regarding Governor Abiodun, the statement highlighted “visible developmental results” over the past six years, citing improvements in road infrastructure, healthcare, inter-local government connectivity, and the construction of the Gateway International Airport as key achievements.
The endorsement frames Governor Abiodun’s prospective senatorial bid for the Ogun East district as a “first right of refusal” for a “performing, committed and loyal” sitting governor. It further cited his role as Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum and his handling of party assignments as evidence of reliability and political acumen.
“We are confident that a Senator Dapo Abiodun will be a solid bridge builder, a very stable hand, and experienced political player in the 11th Assembly,” the statement read.
The group pledged to mobilize its members across all 236 wards in Ogun State to secure victory for both candidates during party primaries and the general election, expressing confidence in an “unprecedented victory” to consolidate gains from “progressive governance.”
The statement was also signed by Hon. Ekelojumati Oladele, Ph.D., and Hon. Rotimi Rahmon, Ph.D., and closed with the slogan “APC, RENEWED HOPE.”
