Few days ago Governor Ibikunle Amosun and his Borno state counterpart who are both senator elect met behind closed doors to discuss the leadership of the 9th assembly. Sources within governor Amosun’s camp revealed that he is lobbying Shettima to throw his weight behind Senator Ali Ndume who isn’t a choice of the party APC.

Governor Shettima said while declaring support for Senator Lawan, “As far as Borno is concern, we are in alignment with the aspirations of Mr President and that of our party. Whoever the party endorses for any position, we will solely stand behind such a person because party discipline is absolutely essential for the sustainability of our democratic experiment. If everyone is to vote according to his own free will surely that would be a recipe for disaster or confusion.”

Governor Amosun who was elected and served as a PDP senator between 2003 to 2007 was also said to have been lobbying the PDP senators elect to thwart the move by the APC to ensure the emergence of Senator Ahmed Lawan.

Having being suspended for anti party activities by the NWC of the APC, Governor Ibikunle Amosun has vowed to work against the party during the emergence of the 9th leadership of the National Assembly
