Abiodun Swears In Two Commissioners, Charges Them to Prioritise Ogun’s Interest

ABEOKUTA — Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has sworn in two new commissioners, Mr Olayemi Sanusi and Mrs Adenike Ademokun, urging them to prioritise the interests of the state above personal considerations, political differences and sectional loyalties.

The swearing-in ceremony took place on Monday at the Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, where Abiodun charged the new members of the State Executive Council to uphold integrity, humility, fairness and accountability in the discharge of their responsibilities.

The governor urged the commissioners to remain accessible to residents, listen to their concerns and ensure that their appointments translate into tangible benefits for the people. He also stressed the need for prudence in the management of public resources and effective collaboration with ministries, departments and agencies.

Abiodun emphasised the importance of continuity in governance, advising the new commissioners to preserve institutional knowledge, maintain proper records and ensure the completion of ongoing projects and programmes.

He further urged them to familiarise themselves with the administration’s priorities, assess the status of existing projects and bring fresh ideas, sound judgment and a strong sense of responsibility to their respective assignments.

“Public confidence grows when citizens can see that those they entrusted with leadership understand their needs and act to address them,” the governor said.

Describing the appointments as coming at a critical period in his administration, Abiodun said the remaining months required urgency, discipline, political maturity and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

“We are now in the final lap of this administration. This period demands urgency, discipline, political maturity and a steadfast pursuit of excellence,” he said.

The governor added that the new commissioners were joining an administration with significant achievements to consolidate and outstanding responsibilities to fulfil, urging them to focus on policies and programmes that would improve the lives of residents.

He noted that public office should be measured by its ability to solve problems and create opportunities, stressing that the collective responsibility of the State Executive Council was to build on existing achievements and leave Ogun State stronger and more prosperous.

Abiodun also called on the commissioners to respect the professionalism of the public service, embrace teamwork and support their colleagues in advancing the administration’s development agenda.

Speaking on behalf of the newly sworn-in commissioners, Mrs Adenike Ademokun thanked the governor for the confidence reposed in them, assuring him that they would not take the appointments for granted.

She pledged their commitment to giving their best in support of the administration’s development efforts and improving the welfare of residents across Ogun State.
