20th National Sports Festival: Ogun Contingents Still Firing From All Cylinders

As the National Sports Festival enters its final week on Sunday 11th April, 2021, it can easily be seen that Ogun State contingents are still firing from all cylinders as they continue to ascend the Medal Table with grit, gut and gusto.

The duo of Adeyemi Ololade and Toluwanimi Odedola won a GOLD medal in 501 Ladies Double in Dart at an event held on Sunday.

Imran Adewole in women Haul Event in Gymnastics won a Silver Medal for Ogun State.

In Golf, the team did all within their powers to clinch a Gold Medal but was eventually ousted, and had to settle for a bronze medal.

In the 69 kg Boxing Semi Final however, Ogun African Champion Bola Shogbanmu was displaced the rightful Medal by Kate Rita of Edo. The African Champion only pulled through with a Bronze Medal.

In a similar vein, Sogbade Azizat narrowly missed the gold medal in the Para-Powerlifting 67kg women’s competition, but was consoled with a Bronze Medal.

A quick look at the Medal Table indicates that Ogun State now has a total of Thirteen (13) Gold, Seven (7) Silver and Twenty-Nine (29) Bronze Medals displacing other States of the Federation to maintain a single unit position on the Medal Table.

It is quite evident that the team wouldn’t have performed excellently without the able support of His Excellency, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun MFR who created the enabling environment for the State Contingent to succeed.

Wishing the Athletes & their coaches the very best of luck and success in the new week.
