Ogun Government Urges Residents to Support a Successful National Sports Festival

Abeokuta – The Ogun State Government has called on citizens and residents to join hands in ensuring a smooth and successful hosting of the upcoming National Sports Festival, dubbed “Gateway Games, 2024.”
Hon. Wasiu Isiaka, the Commissioner for Sports Development, made the appeal during an inspection tour of the MKO Abiola International Stadium and the Alake Sports Centre. He emphasized the need for residents to uphold the state’s reputation by being hospitable to visitors and rallying behind #TeamOgun throughout the event.
Hon. Isiaka assured that adequate security measures had been put in place to safeguard participants and spectators. He also noted that preparations for the festival had reached an advanced stage, with various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) collaborating to deliver a world-class event.
Highlighting the long-term benefits of the sporting facilities, the Commissioner stated that the state government was committed to maintaining the infrastructure beyond the festival. “We are not just setting up these facilities for the competition alone; we aim to establish a sustainable sports system in #OgunState,” he said.
The #gatewaygames 2024 is expected to draw athletes and sports enthusiasts from across Nigeria, further boosting the state’s profile as a hub for sporting excellence.
Residents are encouraged to show their support and contribute to making the event a memorable one.
