2027: Ogun West Senator Adeola Appeals to Supporters, Warns Against Attacking Fellow Aspirants
As political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial election in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) has issued a strong appeal to his supporters to refrain from attacking or making detestable statements against other aspirants within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a press statement made available to journalists on Tuesday, the Senator representing Ogun West and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations addressed what he described as “recent statements and opinions” circulating on social media. These remarks followed declarations by some respected citizens of the state to run for the governorship seat.
Senator Adeola clarified that, despite unprovoked media attacks on his person and political career, he has not authoriauthorisedficial response or statement regarding the aspirations of his fellow partymates.
“For the record, I have not made any official statement regarding any aspirant’s aspiration or responded to the unprovoked media attacks on my person,” the statement read in part. “I have also not authauthorised of my relevant staff to respond againsttotterances.”
The lawmaker emphasiemphasisedis current focus remains on serving his constituents in Ogun West Senatorial District and contributing to national development. He stressed that derogating or ridiculing fellow party members is contrary to his character.
In a direct appeal to his teeming supporters, well-wishers, and loyalists, Senator Adeola urged them to desist from attacking the person or ideals of any aspirant, even when acting in his defensedefencescribed such actions as counterproductive to the party’s unity.
“This appeal is pursuant to a rancour-rancour-free for all the upcoming activities of our party, APC, as we progress towards the general elections,” he said. “I passionately appeal to all my supporters and party members to always bear in mind that we are all members of a great political family and we must eschew bitterness andrancourr Senator urged his loyalists not to be distracted and to keep their focus on the collective goal envisioned for the state over the past decade. He called for unity, advising party members to showcase the achievements of Governor Dapo Abiodun and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu under the Renewed Hope Agenda, rather than engaging in internal bickering.
“Our focus should be on continuity of the ongoing reforms of our great party, APC, at both the state and national level and not on any unproductive internal bickering,” Adeola added.
