HON. JOHNSON AKOHOMEH AVOSEH INSPECTS REHABILITATION OF CASSAVA PROCESSING CENTRE AT ODAN-IJAYE

...Chairman Commends Governor Dapo Abiodun’s Rural Development Efforts

The Executive Chairman of Ipokia Local Government, Hon. Johnson Akohomeh Avoseh, has praised the Ogun State Governor, His Excellency, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun, CON, for his steadfast dedication to meeting the needs of rural communities.

The commendation came on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, during an inspection of the ongoing rehabilitation of a large-scale cassava processing centre at Odan-Ijaye in Ipokia. Accompanied by top government officials and political appointees, Hon. Avoseh highlighted the project’s significance in boosting agricultural productivity.

“This rehabilitated centre will address the challenges local farmers face in garri processing. What makes it even more impactful is that it will be a fully mechanized facility,” he stated. He added that the development would reduce manual labor, improve efficiency, and strengthen the cassava value chain.

The delegation was received by Dr. (Mrs.) Yewande Lawal, Social Personnel of the executing firm, Blue Deck Construction Company, alongside other company executives. A guided tour of the facility was conducted by the Site Technical Officer, Engr. Abdulsalam Monsuru Akintunde, who provided detailed explanations on the operations and expected benefits of the centre.

Hon. Avoseh noted that the project is timely, as farmers are increasingly seeking improved methods for processing and adding value to their produce. He expressed confidence that, once completed, the centre would create employment opportunities for residents and stimulate economic growth across the local government.

The initiative is being carried out under the Ogun State Economic Transformation Project (OGSTEP) with funding support from the World Bank.

Present during the inspection were the Vice Chairman, Hon. (Mrs.) Olufunmilayo Okewole; Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Babajide Johnson Olusola; Head of Local Government Administration, Mr. Emmanuel Pogbe; Director of General Services and Administration, Mr. Abiodun Adeogun; and Supervisor for Works and Housing, Hon. Obeki John.
