Southern Governors’ Forum Mourns Passing of Governor Ododo’s Father

The Southern Governors’ Forum (SGF) has expressed deep condolences to the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, following the passing of his father, Alhaji Ahmed Momoh Sani Ododo. The elder Ododo died on Monday at the age of 83.

In a condolence message signed by its Chairman and Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, the Forum described the news of his demise as shocking, coming shortly after the death of Lady Lydia Yilwatda, mother of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda.

The Forum encouraged Governor Ododo to find comfort in the lasting legacies left by his late father, who passed away surrounded by the love of his children and grandchildren. The statement emphasised that the family would continue to uphold his legacy of service to God and humanity.

Excerpts from the statement read:

“The Southern Governors’ Forum commiserates with His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, on the transition of his father, Alhaji Ahmed Momoh Sani Ododo. The loss of a devoted father, who dedicated his life to raising his children in the ways of Allah and provided unwavering guidance and counsel, leaves a void that cannot be easily filled.

“Nevertheless, as Almighty Allah (SWT) knows best, we submit to His will and stand in firm solidarity with His Excellency, his family, and the Government and people of Kogi State during this period of grief. Alhaji Ododo’s life of faith, service, and humility remains an enduring legacy. May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus.”
