The Chairman of Ogun State Parks and Garrages Development Agency Board, PAGADAB, Barr. Abeeb Wale Ajayi has said that the State government would not interfere in the activities and internal affairs of transport unions in Ogun State, but to ensure the transporters conduct themselves well so as not to breach the existing peace and harmony in the State.
In a statement made available to our correspondent on Friday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital.
Barr. Ajayi reinterated that the main function of Parks and Garrages Development Agency Board he headed is to manage the parks and garrages. The Board only deemed it to appoint competent and experienced agent to assist in collecting revenues, issuing government tickets on behalf of the State government. That’s the reason we appointed Ogun State Parks Management (OGSPAM), when government suspended activities of National Union of Roads Transport Workers NURTW in the state.
He noted that The suspension of the NURTW activities in the parks and Garrages as a result of leadership crisis in the State Chapter of the union has not been lifted.
Also, the Park Managers appointment has not been terminated. However, the Agency will not interfere the activities of the unions operating in the State except where there is crisis that may lead to break down of law and order in our parks and Garrages.
He therefore wishes to place on record that the government of the day in Ogun State will not open its eyes and allow unwarranted activities threaten the peace of the good people of Ogun State.
“I wish to urge the peace-loving residents of the state to go about their lawful duties without fear and intimidation.
“Let it, however, be known to any agents of violence or purveyours of trouble that the state would not hesitate to deal decisively against any threat of violence within the ambits of the law, he warned
