Ogun customary appeal court gets president
The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, on Wednesday swore in Justice Mobolaji Ojo as the President of the Ogun State Customary Court of Appeal.
A statement on Wednesday said Justice Ojo became the first Ogun State Customary Court of Appeal President in 44 years.
The governor, according to the statement, said the appointment was a demonstration of his administration’s determination to bring justice closer to the people and promote the rule of law.
Justice Ojo, alongside five other judges, was sworn in by the governor at the Obas Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
The governor pledged that his administration would respect the rule of law and obey all court pronouncements.
He urged the judges to be fair, firm and courageous to ensure equitable dispensation of justice in the state.
Abiodun said, “Let me assure you that our administration will continue to ensure equitable dispensation and efficient administration in Ogun State. Today’s appointment of the President and other members of the Customary Court of Appeal brings into full the practical establishment of the Ogun State Customary Court of Appeal since the creation of our dear state in 1976.
“This special court is a practical representation of our administration’s deliberate plan and part of our commitment to bring the system and the administration of justice closer to our people, especially, at the grassroots. The Court will adjudicate on appeals arising from the customary court.”
