Ogun APC Swears In Newly Elected State Executives, Tasks Them on Unity and 2027 Victory

ABEOKUTA – The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated its newly elected State Executive Committee, with a charge to the new leaders to prioritise unity, discipline, and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The inauguration ceremony, which took place today at the party’s secretariat at Iyana Mortuary, Abeokuta, saw Chief Yemi Sanusi take the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Office first, before administering the same to the other 35 members of the state executive committee. The oath was administered by Barrister Martin Williams.

In his inaugural address, the newly sworn-in Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, urged the executive members to see their new roles as a strategic call to service. He emphasised that their efforts must translate into increased voters’ confidence and electoral victories.

“This is a call for service and you must work harder. I urge you all to uphold the party’s constitution, promote unity, and ensure inclusiveness,” Chief Sanusi stated. “Our roles are strategic and must translate into voters’ confidence and victory at the polls.”

Chief Sanusi commended the reforms of President Bola Tinubu under the Renewed Hope Agenda and lauded Governor Dapo Abiodun’s efforts in changing the political trajectory of Ogun State. He reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to unity, discipline, and service, with the primary goal of securing all elective posts in the 2027 elections. He also extended gratitude to President Tinubu and Governor Abiodun for fostering a peaceful atmosphere in the state, which made the congresses and inauguration seamless.

The inauguration, which was conducted in line with directives from the party’s national secretariat, brought together a mix of returning and newly elected officials.

Expressing her delight, the Woman Leader of the party, Mrs Aminat Adigun, described the successful congress and inauguration as a defining moment for the party in the state. “This moment reflects our unity, our strength, and a shared commitment to progress,” she said.

Similarly, the Ogun East Senatorial Women Leader, Mrs Kuburat Arigbabu, reassured party members of the committee’s dedication. “We promise the teeming members of our great party that we will not disappoint them,” she said.

Other newly elected officials also pledged their commitment to the party’s growth. The Ogun Central Senatorial District Chairman, Chief Sunday Sowunmi, assured members that the new executives would work tirelessly. The Ogun Central Senatorial District Youth Leader, Comrade Clement Adeniji, specifically promised an inclusive approach, stating, “I will carry all party youths along in my programmes.”

The ceremony was witnessed by delegates from the party’s national headquarters, including the Chairman of the State Screening Congress Committee, Hon. Boye Oyewunmi; the State Appeal Committee Chairman, Hon. Habeeb Aileru; and the Secretary of the Congress Committee, Dr Kashim Shuaib.

Leading the national delegation, Dr Kashim Shuaib commended the high level of organisation and unity displayed in Ogun State, describing the state as “a home of peace.” He urged the new leaders to remain focused on service and to be mindful of the legacy they intend to leave behind.
