Daughter of the late MKO Abiola, Miss Rinsola Abiola has made known her interest for the position of the National Youth Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
As revealed by her,” After several months of consultation, I have decided to throw my scarf in the ring and vie for the position of the National Youth Leader of our dear party, the All Progressive Congress”.
Rinsola Abiola is a communications specialist and political consultant. She’s an advocate for gender equity and youth inclusion in governance who works at the intersection of politics and civil society to promote enhanced representation for marginalised groups in decision making structures.
Ms. Abiola was Special Assistant on Media to the former speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara. She also served on the Board of Trustees of the governing All Progressives Congress from 2014 – 2018, and is an active member of the party in her native Ogun State.
Rinsola served on the advisory board of the World Youth Movement for Democracy and is a UN Women Intergenerational Mentee, i.e. one of 25 young Nigerian women chosen to carry on advocacy regarding meeting goals outlined in the Beijing Platform for Action.
She runs the Derinsola Abiola Foundation, a non-profit domiciled in Abeokuta, her hometown, established with the aim of carrying out social development programmes
She seeks to use the position as a viable tool to not only advance the cause of youths across the nation but also to lead a social- political re-engineering which will see youths take their rightful place in the nation while also upholding the values and cores of the All Progressive Congress
