“I Have Defected To APM To Become Ogun Governor” – Amosun’s candidate

Hon. Adekunle Akinlade, Amosun’s consensus candidate has dumped APC for APM to become Ogun State Governor in 2019.

According to a statement signed by him on Thursday headlined “it is time to move on” available with Prestige Newspaper online, he said: “My dear good people of Ogun State, you will recall that APC in our state has been rocked by crisis since October 2nd gubernatorial primaries, I feel obliged to inform you about recent political developments in our dear state and resolution of the overwhelming majority of members of APC in the state”.

Akinlade catalogued the genesis of the crisis and what he went through to emerge consensus candidate, stating that “despite our efforts, the anti-democratic forces behind the plot remain unyielding, determined, obstinate and belligerent. All efforts to make them see reason and respect the wish of the people have fallen on deaf ears”

He commended Gov. Amosun and members of the APC “who in spite of the provocations, remain calm and peaceful to keep our dream of a great Ogun State alive.

While resigning his membership of APC, he announced officially that “I Hon. Adekunle Abduikabir Akinlade will be contesting for the office of governor of Ogun State on the platform of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), to keep our stolen mandate alive”.

He implored supporters and members of the APC in Ogun State to move to APM.

Akinlade said that he appreciated President Buhari “who remains the leading voice of reason, fairness, equity, and democratic tenets in the APC, therefore we are committed to his second term in office and shall use all resources at our disposal to work for his victory at the presidential election come 2019”.
