Gov. Abiodun Lauds APC Convention as Model of Organisation, Security

Abuja – Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has hailed the recently concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention as a benchmark for organisational excellence and security, attributing the success of the event to meticulous planning and strategic innovations.
Governor Abiodun, who served as Chairman of the Venue Subcommittee for the 2026 convention, spoke on the sidelines of the event held at Eagle Square, Abuja. He disclosed that the committee began its work by conducting a critical review of past conventions to identify recurring challenges, particularly in the areas of crowd management and venue security.
According to the governor, shortly after their inauguration, the subcommittee carried out an on-the-spot assessment of the arena, which led to a comprehensive redesign of the venue layout. He noted that simulations were conducted to test the movement of approximately 12,000 participants, ensuring seamless entry and exit throughout the event.
“We identified weak areas from past experiences and redesigned the arena to eliminate them. The goal was to deliver a seamless and world-class convention,” Mr Abiodun said.
He explained that to enhance coordination, specific entry points were assigned to different categories of attendees, while dedicated emergency exit routes were also created. He added that surveillance cameras were strategically installed within and around the venue to monitor activities and bolster security.
The governor described the convention as highly successful, revealing that about 11,000 participants attended, including 8,400 delegates, 1,800 committee members, and 200 VIPs. He commended President Bola Tinubu for entrusting him with the responsibility, noting that the successful outing reflected the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
In her remarks, the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, described the event as unprecedented, highlighting the presence of delegates from all 36 states of the federation. She praised the planning team for delivering a convention befitting the party’s stature.
Similarly, the Senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, said the convention stood out as a hallmark event, attributing its success to effective leadership and the meticulous coordination by the organising committee.
