Father remanded for allegedly raping daughter
An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ekiti State yesterday remanded a 57-year-old man, ýDaramola Kehinde, in prison for allegedly defiling his 16-year-old daughter.
Kehinde, of no fixed address, is facing a one-count charge of rape.
Prosecutor Johnson Okunade said the accused committed the alleged offence on August 10, at Iyin-Ekiti.
He alleged that the accused defiled his 16-year-old daughter, which led to her death.
Okunade said the offence contravened Section 31 (2) of Child Rights Law and Section 214 of the Criminal Code, Law of Ekiti State, 2012.
He urged the court to remand the accused in prison, pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The plea of the accused was not taken.
Chief Magistrate Adesoji Adegboye ordered that the accused be remanded and adjourned the case till November 2 for mention.
