Amosun’s offer of last-minute appointment rejected

As the out-going Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle, continues in his adamant nature to make last minutes appointments to undermine the incoming administration of Prince Dapo Abiodun, a courageous lady has told the governor to keep his appointment to himself.

Newsaccross gathered exclusively that the lady, who is a professional, humbly requested that Governor Amosun should excuse her name from the list of intending members of the Governing Council of the Tai Solarin University of Education (YASUED), which Amosun will announce any moment from now.

A source within the government informed Newsaccross that efforts were actually made to persuade the lady to take up the last-minute appointment in other not to be seen as rebuffing the governor, but it was learnt that the lady was resolute in her principled stand, wondering why Amosun will be making such appointments with less than 40 days to handing over to Prince Dapo Abiodun as governor.

The membership of the TASUED Governing Council is of five years tenure. The last Governing Council of the premier University of Education in Nigeria, second in West Africa and eight in Africa, was headed by the former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Olufemi Bamiro. Bamiro’s tenure ended in July 2018. Since coming into office in 2011, Amosun has refused to appoint a Chancellor for TASUED, an institution he actually wanted to scrap but for the intervention of eminent Ijebu sons and daughters, led by the Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebu land, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona.
