AMORAN Chairman Sokoya Praises Gov. Abiodun for Successful Ojude-Oba Festival, Hails Peaceful Celebration

The Chairman of the Articulated Motorcycle and Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN), Otunba Taofeek Sokoya, popularly known as Danku, has lauded Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for his outstanding role in ensuring a peaceful and successful 2025 Ojude-Oba Festival in Ijebu-Ode.
Speaking during AMORAN’s monthly meeting at its secretariat in Car-wash, Adatan, Abeokuta, on Wednesday, Sokoya commended the governor for fostering unity and preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Ijebu people.
“Governor Dapo Abiodun has once again demonstrated his commitment to peace and cultural sustainability by supporting the Ojude-Oba Festival,” Sokoya said. “The event was not just a display of our traditions but also a testament to the harmonious coexistence among all residents of Ogun State, regardless of religion or ethnicity.”
He further praised the governor for maintaining a secure and inclusive environment, which allowed thousands of locals and tourists to celebrate without incident.
“The governor’s efforts in promoting tourism and cultural diplomacy are commendable. Ojude-Oba is more than a festival; it is a unifying force, and we appreciate his administration’s dedication to preserving this legacy,” Sokoya added.
The *Ojude-Oba Festival, held annually in Ijebu-Ode, is a vibrant cultural spectacle featuring drummers, dancers, and elaborate fashion parades. The event, which means “The King’s Forecourt” in Yoruba, originated over 200 years ago as a gathering of Muslim faithful thanking the Awujale of Ijebuland for religious tolerance. Today, it has evolved into a grand celebration of Ijebu identity, attracting visitors from across Nigeria and beyond.
This year’s edition, held on the third day after *Eid al-Adha, saw massive attendance, with Governor Abiodun playing a key role in its organization. His administration’s support ensured seamless logistics, security, and publicity, further elevating the festival’s status as a major tourist attraction.
Sokoya, while addressing AMORAN members, urged continued support for the governor’s developmental initiatives.
“Governor Abiodun has shown that good governance transcends politics—it is about uplifting the people and preserving our heritage. We in AMORAN stand with him and encourage all well-meaning citizens to support his vision for a greater Ogun State,” he stated.
The AMORAN chairman also called on other state governments to emulate Ogun State’s approach to cultural preservation and community engagement.
As the echoes of drumbeats and celebrations fade, the 2025 Ojude-Oba Festival leaves behind a legacy of unity, pride, and appreciation for Governor Abiodun’s leadership. With stakeholders like AMORAN endorsing his efforts, the governor’s commitment to cultural and socio-economic development continues to earn widespread acclaim.
