2027: Yayi Targets 60,000 Votes in Ilaro, Says Town Becoming ‘Small London’

Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has declared that Ilaro, the administrative headquarters of Ogun West Senatorial District, is gradually becoming a “Small London” through infrastructure development facilitated under his representation.

Adeola, the APC governorship candidate in Ogun State, made the declaration at a programme organised by *Ilaro Parapo for Yayi*, themed “Unity, Development and Political Future of Ilaro District,” which attracted thousands of indigenes of Ilaro in Yewa South Local Government Area.

The senator said his commitment to transforming Ilaro and its environs had resulted in interventions in road infrastructure, healthcare, education, security and electricity, among other sectors.

“I made a promise to turn Ilaro and its environs into a ‘Small London’, and I have worked seriously towards it through the infrastructure development I facilitated for the town,” he said.

Adeola also highlighted his role in facilitating the transformation of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, into a federal university of technology, describing the development as a significant step towards making the town a university destination.

He urged residents to vote for him and other APC candidates in the 2027 general elections, describing their support as an investment in their future and the continued development of the state. He said he was targeting more than 60,000 votes from Ilaro District.

In his welcome address, Omoba Segun Adewale (OSA) described Adeola as a son of Ilaro, expressing confidence that the town would deliver massive support for his governorship ambition.

Adewale said the district had approximately 80,000 registered voters who had collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), adding that the determination to support Adeola was driven by his record of projects and the quest to end what he described as the 50-year injustice of Ogun West not producing a governor.

He, however, noted that Adeola’s governorship ambition extended beyond Ilaro and Ogun West, saying his development efforts had also begun to reach other senatorial districts in the state.

Three academics of Ilaro origin—Professors Tope Popoola and Taiwo Edun, and Dr Mukhail Akinde—presented papers on the programme’s theme, calling for unity and massive electoral support for Adeola.

Dignitaries at the event included the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Kunle Salako; a former Third Republic legislator, Hon. Muftau Ajibola; the Deputy Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Lateefat Ajayi; Engr. Tommy Akintomide; Chief Mrs Iyabo Apampa; and the APC senatorial candidate for Ogun West, Hon. Jimoh Ojugbele, among others.
