Ogun 2027: Yayi Meets Anglican Bishops, Presents ITESIWAJU Agenda

SAGAMU — The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has met with bishops of the Anglican Communion in the state as part of consultations ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Adeola, who presented his proposed ITESIWAJU Agenda during the meeting held at the Bishop’s Court in Sagamu, said the agenda was designed to sustain ongoing development while creating new opportunities and improving the standard of living of residents across the state.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for the APC candidate and the clerics to exchange views on key issues affecting the state, including security, education, healthcare, youth empowerment and equitable distribution of development projects.

Speaking on behalf of the bishops, the Archbishop of Lagos Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev. Dr. Michael Olusina Fape, urged Adeola to pursue an inclusive approach to governance if elected governor.

Fape stressed the importance of a government that would serve residents irrespective of their religious beliefs, ethnic backgrounds or geographical locations.

He also called for increased attention to rural and remote communities, noting that development should extend beyond major urban centres to areas that have remained less developed.

Responding, Adeola assured the bishops that, if given the mandate in 2027, his administration would work to meet the expectations and aspirations of the people of Ogun State.

The APC candidate pointed to his legislative record and intervention projects as evidence of his experience in public service, expressing confidence that the experience would be brought to bear in the administration of the state.

Adeola explained that the ITESIWAJU Agenda would focus on consolidating existing development efforts, expanding opportunities for residents and strengthening the foundations for sustainable growth across Ogun State.

He also appreciated the Anglican bishops for their prayers, counsel and support, assuring them of his commitment to promoting religious harmony and maintaining productive partnerships with faith-based organisations.

Adeola further pledged that, if elected governor, he would not disappoint the Christian community and would remain committed to building a government that accommodates the interests and aspirations of all residents of Ogun State.
