Ogun Police Launch Investigation into Deaths of Retired Broadcaster Kitan Oyesiku, Security Guard

ABEOKUTA — The Ogun State Police Command has commenced a full-scale investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths of renowned broadcaster and retired Ogun State Television (OGTV) personality, Ms. Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard.
The incident, which has generated widespread concern within the media community and beyond, was reported to the Owode Egba Police Division on Sunday, June 21, 2026, following an alarm raised by a resident of Iyana Agodo Village over suspicious activities at the deceased’s residence.
According to the Ogun State Police Command, detectives were immediately dispatched to the scene upon receiving the report. Preliminary findings reportedly revealed signs of forced entry and disturbance within the premises.
Police authorities disclosed that during a detailed search of the property, the body of the security guard was discovered inside the security post, while Ms. Oyesiku’s corpse was later found within her apartment. Investigators also observed that the deceased’s vehicle was missing from the premises.
The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, has directed a comprehensive investigation into the incident, with a view to uncovering the circumstances surrounding the deaths and bringing those responsible to justice.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the Command said intensive investigative efforts are ongoing, including intelligence-driven and surveillance operations across relevant locations to track down the perpetrators.
“The Ogun State Police Command is committed to ensuring that all those connected with this heinous act are identified and prosecuted in accordance with the law,” the statement indicated.
The Command also expressed condolences to the family of the deceased, the management and staff of Ogun State Television, members of the media community, and others affected by the tragic development.
Police authorities appealed to residents to remain calm and vigilant while urging members of the public to provide any useful information that could assist ongoing investigations.
The deaths of Ms. Oyesiku, fondly known as “Aunty Kitan” among colleagues and admirers, and her security guard have continued to attract reactions from media practitioners, community leaders, and residents, many of whom have called for a thorough investigation and swift justice.
