Diaspora Group Decorates Olaotan, Oseni as Patron, Matron, Rallies Support for Yayi’s 2027 Bid

The Yayi Diaspora Movement (YDM), a coalition of Ogun State indigenes abroad, has appointed Hon. Babatunde Olaotan and Rt. Hon. Titi Oseni as Patron and Matron, respectively, in a move to deepen diaspora involvement in the state’s political and economic future ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The decoration ceremony, conducted by the group’s Home Base Team in Ogun State, saw both appointees pledge unwavering support for the movement and its principal, Senator Solomon Adeola Olamilekan, popularly known as Yayi, who is widely regarded as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the next gubernatorial race.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Olaotan thanked the movement for the honour, commending the vision that has united Ogun indigenes overseas behind Senator Adeola’s leadership. He assured the group of his total commitment to the responsibilities of the office of Patron.
Rt. Hon. Oseni, speaking at her own decoration, stressed that physical distance does not reduce the stake of the diaspora in the development of their homeland. “We remain critical stakeholders in the progress of Ogun State,” she said, promising a motherly role in guiding and encouraging members of the movement.
Addressing the ceremonies virtually, Convener of YDM, Hon. Olusola Adisa (Adunbarin), described the diaspora as an “untapped reservoir of knowledge and investment potential” that has been undervalued in local politics for too long. He maintained that Ogun indigenes abroad are not only stakeholders but also crucial contributors to the democratic process. “The narrative that the diaspora does not matter is both outdated and inaccurate. We bring value, perspective, and capacity that can significantly influence the future of our state,” Adunbarin stated.
He disclosed that beyond political mobilisation, the movement has begun implementing structured initiatives to channel diaspora expertise and resources into impactful projects across Ogun State and will deliver unprecedented support for Yayi’s governorship ambition.
Global Coordinator of YDM, Hon. Adekunle Adegoke (Sanjay), praised the APC leadership in the state and Governor Dapo Abiodun for what he termed a bold and progressive decision to endorse Senator Adeola as the party’s consensus candidate. He cited the senator’s track record as representative of Ogun West in the National Assembly, describing his achievements as “visible, impactful, and people-oriented,” and expressed confidence that a Governor Yayi would usher in a new era of sustainable development.
The Yayi Diaspora Movement says it remains committed to leveraging its global network for the unity and advancement of Ogun State.
