Breaking: NCAA Blacklists Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (KWAM1) for Six Months Following ValueJet Incident

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has reportedly blacklisted popular Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as KWAM1, for six months following a recent incident involving a ValueJet flight. The action comes after a series of events that began on August 5, 2025, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

According to reports, the incident began when KWAM1, who was scheduled to board a ValueJet flight to Lagos, was found with an unidentified liquid substance in a flask. Aviation security personnel and the flight captain reportedly asked him to surrender the flask, citing a prohibition on carrying alcoholic substances on board. While the musician’s media aide claimed the flask contained “plain drinking water,” the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) stated that its investigation found the substance to be alcohol. The situation escalated when KWAM1 allegedly refused to comply with security requests and, in some accounts, spilt the contents of the flask on an airline security officer.

After being deboarded, KWAM1 reportedly moved to the front of the aircraft, attempting to prevent its departure. In a subsequent and highly criticised move, the pilots of the ValueJet flight initiated takeoff procedures without the mandatory pre-departure clearance, forcing the musician and airport officials to move out of the aircraft’s path.

Following the incident, the NCAA suspended the licenses of the two pilots involved, citing a serious breach of aviation safety protocols. The authority’s latest action, blacklisting KWAM1, places the musician on a ‘no-fly list’ for six months, a punitive measure for his unruly conduct that endangered ground personnel and airport users.

Details soon.
