Ipokia APC welcomes Akinlade, Supporters as Former Reps Member Returns Home

IPOKIA, OGUN STATE – The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ipokia Local Government officially welcomed back Hon. Adekunle Abdulkabir Akinlade (Triple A), a former member of the House of Representatives for Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency.























Akinlade, who previously served as the governorship candidate of the APM in the 2019 general election and the deputy governorship candidate of the PDP in the 2023 general election, visited with a large contingent of his supporters to formally announce their decision to rejoin the APC.
The welcoming event saw the presence of prominent party stakeholders, including the Party Chairman, Chief Hon. Taye Zinsu WHEPETOJI; the Local Government Chairman, Hon. Johnson Akohomeh Avoseh; the Party Leader, Hon. M.O. Obanla; all twelve Ward Chairmen; the Women Leader; and the State Women Leader, Alhaja Aminat Adigun.
Hon. Akinlade and his supporters unequivocally declared their readiness and commitment to return to the APC, their original political home. Their return was met with a warm reception from the party faithful.
The Executive Chairman of Ipokia Local Government, Hon. Johnson Akohomeh Avoseh, addressing the gathering, emphasised the divine hand in human destiny, stating that “our future is in God’s hands and that everything we are and will become is determined by His will.” He further noted the party’s pre-existing confidence in its strength, asserting that “even before their return, we were confident that no party could defeat the APC in Ipokia Local Government.” He concluded by highlighting that “with their reintegration, our strength has only increased, making our victory more certain.”
Chief Hon. Taye Zinsu WHEPETOJI also extended his welcome to the returning members. In a spirit of reconciliation, the returning members offered apologies for past differences and appealed for forgiveness, expressing a desire to “move forward together as one united and formidable political family.”
Party Leader Baba Obanla offered counsel to the returnees, urging them to actively engage within their respective wards and cultivate strong relationships with party members across all levels.
The State Women Leader, Alhaja Aminat Adigun, lauded Hon. Akinlade’s decision to return to the APC. She recounted a memorable past interaction during the court case between APM and APC, where she consistently told Akinlade, “You are still coming back to APC.” Her joy was palpable as she witnessed the fulfilment of that “prophecy.”
Hon. Josu Amos also expressed his delight at being part of the significant political moment.
Alhaji Tewogbola, the Chairman of all Ward Chairmen, commended Hon. Akinlade for his “courageous and wise decision” to return to the party.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Alhaji Tewogbola Abolurin, the former Transition Committee Chairman of Ipokia Local Government, who expressed appreciation to all attendees and called for continued unity and progress within the party.
