Why Ogun workers Shun Governor Amosun May Day Rally

Majority of workers in Ogun State shunned the 2019 May Day rally held on Wednessday at the MKO Stadium, Abeokuta, the state capital.
The boycott of the celebration is believed to be connected with the arrears of salaries owed them by the state government.
Out of the two covered terraces in the stadium, only one was filled up by leaders and members mobilized to participate in the march past while the other one was sparsely filled.
All the uncovered terraces were empty throughout the ceremony.
A labour leader said in confidence that workers shunned the rally in protest against the following:
1) Unpaid Cooperative Deductions 19 months
2) Union Dues 2 months
3) Unremmited Pension Deductions 109 months
4) Leave Bonus 4 years unpaid
5) No promotion 2015/2016 till date
6) Gratuity of LG workers unpaid since October 2012 State workers unpaid since 2013.
“I need not to tell you that workers are hungry, it is clearly written on the faces of all workers and this is negatively affecting our productivity and input both at home and in the office.”

Near-empty stadium! What a way to depart after eight years in office.
