The Ogun State Police Command has revealed that its men are currently trailing the kidnappers of the five Pastors of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) who were reportedly abducted on Thursday in the State.
The pastors were said to have been abducted at Ijebu-Ode axis, along the Lagos-Benin expressway while on their way to the Redemption Camp for a ministerial conference.
The General Overseer of RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye was said have broke the news while speaking to some of his Pastors at the Redemption Camp.
It would be recalled that week Saturday, the Police Command succeeded in rescuing seven kidnapped victims from their abductors on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Speaking on the incident, the State Police Command’s Spokesman, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi said, “Yes, it was true that some five people were kidnapped on the Ijebu-Ode axis on the Lagos-Benin expressway but as I’m talking to you, the identification of those involved are yet to be known.”
According to Oyeyemi, those involved were abducted in a commercial bus contrary to rumour that, they were kidnapped while traveling in their car.
He stated, “Information at our disposal indicates that some people were traveling in a commercial bus from the East and at a particular spot some armed criminals came from the bush, forced the driver to stop and later abducted five of the passengers.”
Oyeyemi disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama at the time he was speaking had led a strong police operation team to the crime scene to rescue the victims.
According to the Command’s Spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, “Ogun state police command received an information that a commercial vehicle with registration number KW 230 XA belonging to Abia line transport company was coming from the Eastern part of the country heading towards Lagos, on getting to J3 area of Ogbere, some hoodlums numbering about 10 suddenly came out of the forest and forcefully stopped the vehicle.”
“Five amongst the passengers namely Chidioze Eluwa, Chiemela Iroha, Okoro Ohowukwe, Ndubuizi Owuabueze and Ibeleji Chidinma were abducted and taken to the fores
According to him, “The hideout of the hoodlums has been geolocated but our men are trying to be tactical and professional in order not to jeopardize the lives of the victims we are making efforts to rescue.”
“With the operation going on presently, we are rest assured that the victims will soon regain their freedom and the hoodlums will definitively be brought to book”, Oyeyemi said.
His words, “Through surveillance we have got to know their location but we don’t want to attack them (kidnappers) so that we won’t put the victims’ lives in danger. Their lives are more important to us.”
“By the grace of God, we will rescue the victims”, Oyeyemi affirmed.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of police, Bashir Makama is personally leading the operation to rescue the victims with operatives from the command’s tactical squads combing the entire area.
