Our Administration will continue to empower women – Semiu Bola Lawal, Odeda LG Boss,

The Chairman, Transition committee of Odeda Local Government , Ogun state, Alhaji Semiu Bola Lawal, on Tuesday reiterated his unwavering commitment to continually implement and support initiatives targeted at empowering women and youths to become useful and responsible citizens.

Lawal gave the assurance at the official launch of the SPEED UP OGUN Project of NEMAPP — NECESSARY MEASURES AGAINST POVERTY AND PERVERSITY for Nigeria., designed to train over 200 Women in vocational training on Production hair shampoo, Car washing soap, Annoting oil, yam flour, rice flour , cosmetology, bead making, Bridal Make up and other small and medium scale business enterprises that require both little start up capitals
which took place at the local government secretarial, Odeda.

 

 

 

According to the caretaker chairman the administration of Prince Dapo Abiodun would spare no effort to equip women and young persons with the r equisite skills aimed at transforming them into wealth creators and key contributors to national development.

 

 

He said, “Empowering women and young persons has been a major focal point of this present administration led by our able governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

“It is in line with this that the State Government has Established Functional Skills Acquisition Centres under the supervision of the Commissioner for Woman Affairs and social Development.

 

 

“Twenty vocations are being taught here and these include cosmetology, Production hair shampoo, Car washing soap, Annoting oil, yam flour, rice flour , cosmetology, bead making, Bridal Make up to mention a few.”

Lawal commended the partners, NEMAPP — NECESSARY MEASURES AGAINST POVERTY AND PERVERSITY for Nigeria. and SPEED UP OGUN Initiators for championing the unique women-focused initiative designed to build up and empower young women on life enhancement skills.

He urged beneficiaries to make good use of the golden opportunity to start up their business and equally impart the knowledge gained on others.

 

 

Alhaji Lawal added because we live in changing times, women have no choice but to take on secondary skills to enable them fend for their families and shake off poverty.

 

 

Earlier, Convener of the initiative and Executive Director, SPEED UP OGUN PROJECT., Princess Gbemisola Ajetunmobi, said the SPEED UP OGUN PROJECT was birthed to groom, mentor and equip young women with technical and business skills.

Advising them to eschew fear, Princess said all businesses have their attendant risk urging them not to give in to fear but to start and let things take care of themselves, adding that women must be wealth creators and not consumers only.

The Olu Of Osiele, who represented by Chief Jinadu isiaka enjoined the Beneficiaries of two-week free skills acquisition programme to use the knowledge acquired during the training to improve their lives and make positive impacts on the society

One of the beneficiaries, Temitope Akande from Alabata, appreciated the chairman for the gesture.

“We want to appreciate our chairman for the ability to empower us and he has promised to support us financially in buying equipment. We promise that the skills will be used to better ourselves, people around us and the state at large,” she added.

 

 

No fewer than 200 women of various tribes and background are participants at the workshop.
