Ogun First Lady, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun Congratulates Women on Their Day

The present administration in Ogun state has reiterated its commitment towards the empowerment of women and nurturing the next generation of young women and girls in the state to becoming future leaders.

The Wife of the Governor of Ogun state, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun stated this in a broadcast she made to congratulate and charge women in Ogun state and the world at large on the occasion of the 2020 International Women’s Day.

She expressed her satisfaction at the fact that Ogun state happened to be one of the thirteen states in the federation that had put laws in place against Female Genital Mutilation and the progress the nation had made with legislations that had led to the legal protection of women in Nigeria.

She called on women to muster support for a continued struggle against poverty, harmful cultural practices and illiteracy among women noting that the clamour for the rise of women was not to pull the men down but rather to attain an equal and an enabling world for the women.

Mrs. Abiodun enjoined women to collectively work towards the promotion of equality by actively and deliberately choosing to challenge stereotypes and bias, broaden their perceptions, improve their situations and celebrate the achievements of fellow women in the society.
