Ogun 2019: Don’t drag our Obas into politics –Asiwaju Baamofin of Egbaland
Chief Olurotimi ODUNTAN, Asiwaju Baamofin of Egbaland on Sunday advised trouble makers and rumor mongers not to drag the revered traditional rulers in Ogun State into the 2019 politics of succession in the state, lest he desecrates their roles of fostering “unity” and “peace.”
In a statement signed by Chief Sunday Olurotimi ODUNTAN, Asiwaju Baamofin of Egbaland
our attention has been called to the on-going misleading and malicious rumours that Kabiyesi Alake was commissioned to go and “beg” President Buhari on behalf of Governor Ibikunle Amosun to pick Hon Adekunle Akinlade against the candidature of Mr Dapo Abiodun.
We wish to set the records straight here that Kabiyesi Alake is NOT in support of ANY candidate. Kabiyesi went to see the President to appeal for peace in Ogun State and for the actors to settle their differences without any break down of Law and Order.
Before he embarked on the trip this morning, HRM Kabiyesi Alake had an extensive discussion with Akinrogun Olusegun Osoba, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, HRM Kabiyesi Awujale of Ijebu Land, HRM Kabiyesi Akarigbo of Remoland and others from both sides of the Ogun APC. He had the consent of both sides to go and see the President. He is NOT begging for ANYBODY. I’m fully aware of this as I spoke extensively with him at 11:30pm last night.
Kabiyesi Alake went as the current Chairman of Ogun State Council of Obas and as an associate of PMB for over 40 years.
We appeal to all Politicians to please LEAVE The Alake out of their POLITICS.
Kabiyesi Alake is NOT a card carrying member of ANY Political party and has no basis to be involved in their Political struggle.
Kabiyesi Alake wants our people to know that APC is NOT the ONLY Political party in Ogun State and he is a FATHER TO ALL CANDIDATES OF ALL POLITICAL PARTIES.
Our High Chief Aare Baaroyin Layi Labode has also issued a statement on this subject matter.
