OGSIEC Announces Inauguration of Electoral Officers Ahead of Local Government Elections

The Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) is set to inaugurate 20 newly appointed Electoral Officers on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 12:00 noon. This move is in preparation for the forthcoming Local Government elections scheduled for Saturday, November 16, 2024.

According to the Chairman of the Commission, Babatunde A. Osibodu, Esq., the inauguration will take place at the Conference Room of the Commission’s Headquarters in Abeokuta. The Commissioner in charge of Media & Civic Education, Mr. Ayodele Bankole, emphasized the critical role of these Electoral Officers in ensuring a free, fair, and transparent election.

Electoral Officers Appointed to Oversee Critical Functions

The newly appointed Electoral Officers include:

– Abeokuta North_: Azeez Olalekan
– Abeokuta South_: Somoye Dauda
– Ado-Odo/Ota_: Balogun Akinyele
– Yewa North_: Yinusa Rasaki
– Yewa South_: Ademola Akinyele
– Ewekoro_: Tijani Isiaka
– Ifo_: Zannus Sunday
– Ijebu East_: Oseni Lateef
– Ijebu North_: Ogunwo Johnson
– Ijebu North East_: Talabi Adebayo
– Ijebu-Ode_: Akinsanya Abolaji
– Ikenne_: Otelaja Olusoga
– Imeko-Afon_: Kehinde Joshua

Training for Electoral Staff

OGSIEC has also announced that training for additional AdHoc staff will commence on Saturday, October 26, 2024. The training will cover best practices in election management, voter education, and conflict resolution to ensure preparedness for any challenges on election day.

The Commission urges all stakeholders, including the Electoral Officers, to adhere strictly to the guidelines set out for the elections and to collaborate effectively to guarantee a credible outcome.
