Obasanjo visits Gov. Abiodun, discusses development of Ogun

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Thursday paid Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, a visit at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the State capital.

The former President immediately entered into a closed-door meeting with the Governor which lasted for about one hour.

Obasanjo who refused to tell journalists the details of his discussion with the Governor when he emerged from the Governor’s office, said education, agriculture and rural development, among others formed part of their discussion.

The former President added that he had a fruitful deliberation with the Governor on issues that bothered on the development of the State.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Obasanjo said, “I have come to say happy new year to the Governor and then of course, I haven’t been here since his (Dapo Abiodun) assumption of office.

“I have come to welcome him (Abiodun) to his seat and raise a few issues that I have believe are of interest to the development of the State in the area of education, agriculture, rural development and other sort of things.”

When asked to give his assessment of Abiodun’s seven-month old administration, Obasanjo said, “We had a wonderful discussion. I have not come here to do assessment, I have come here to promotion of what will move Ogun State forward.”
