Obafemi Owode Council Boss Reacts to Land Grabbing Crisis in Eredo Community, Summons Baale, Leaders

In response to recent clashes in Eredo Community, Obafemi Owode Local Government, over alleged land-grabbing activities that nearly escalated into violence, the Executive Chairman, Amb. Adesina Lanre Ogunsola, FCPA, has ordered an immediate investigation into the matter.

Following reports by online publications, the council boss has swiftly constituted a committee of enquiry to determine the root cause of the crisis. Additionally, he has summoned the Baale of Eredo, Chief Rasak Amujara, representatives of the two factions involved, and other community leaders to a meeting at the council secretariat in Owode-Egba to seek a lasting resolution.

Amb. Ogunsola has further directed the Nigerian Police Force, Owode-Egba Area Command, and other security agencies within the council to arrest and prosecute any individual or group attempting to disrupt the peace in the community. This move aligns with the strict warning issued by Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, who has declared zero tolerance for land-related violence, emphasizing that the state government retains ultimate authority over all land matters.

The council chairman has assured residents of Eredo Community and its environs that the situation is under control and urged them to remain calm, go about their lawful businesses, and uphold peace while the local government addresses the issue.
