Athletes and officials of Team Ogun led by Special Assistant to the governor on Youth and Sports, Comrade Rasheed Aroboto, and Special Assistant to the governor on Youth development, Comrade Desmond Olujimi , have arrived Asaba, capital of Delta State for the 21st edition of the National Sports Festival (NSF) holding from 30th November to 10th December 2022.
The Team Ogun who came in at about 11:59pm on Tuesday in a convoy of many Costa buses and other vehicles of the sports council including an ambulance are in high spirit in anticipation of the festival. The athletes and the officials are lodged at Government model secondary school, Asaba.
Team Ogun which comprises of a total of 358 contingent departed for Abeokuta on Tuesday, afternoon after a round of pep talks from the Commissioner of Youth and Sports, Hon Dare Kehinde.
Team Ogun had earlier sent an advance team who left on Monday to ensure that all needed for a hitch-free exercise for the contingent is put in place.
Before departure the commissioner , Dare Kehinde urged the athletes to be good ambassadors of the state by remaining focused on the task ahead and ensuring that they come out victorious by winning laurels in their various individual and team events.
He admonished the athletes to shun any act that could tarnish their image and reputation.
The commissioner urged them to be courageous, disciplined and exhibit the spirit of determination which is a panacea for success during the games.
Team Ogun will participate in 29 events at the games.
