MWAN Decorates Mrs. Abiodun As Patron of the Association

The wife of the Governor of Ogun state, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun has reiterated her commitment to the well-being of the people of Ogun state, particularly women and children.

Mrs. Abiodun gave this assurance while being decorated by the Medical Women Association of Nigeria, Ogun state branch as the Patron of the Association during its 5th Investiture and Scientific Conference held in Abeokuta.

The First Lady who appreciated the Association for the honor, acknowledged its roles in serving humanity through the health programs and projects it had executed with special emphasis on children in the state.

“It is indeed gratifying to note that the MWAN has continued to work in line with its vision and mission of serving humanity in pursuit of positive health programs and projects with special emphasis on women and children.”

She added that “whilst your past efforts are appreciated, this is equally a fitting time for the Association to again reflect and reappraise its activities and responsibilities with a view to showing more commitment in its desire to achieve its vision of being a foremost Medical Association in Nigeria.”

Earlier in his goodwill message, the Speaker of the Ogun state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo commended the involvement of the association in providing health care services to humanity stating that ” a healthy family leads to a healthy Nation.”

He encouraged the association to focus more on mental, dental and nutritional support services among others adding that this would help to rid the society of serious health deficits.

The guest speaker, at the occasion and the Vice Chairman of Ogun State Eye Health Committee, Professor Oluwatoni Onabolu who spoke on the theme of the Conference,

“The Medical Woman: Leading Effectively at Work and in the community”, encouraged members of the association to assist in educating the people about infertility, birth control and spacing, blood donation, caesarean section, genotype and immunization among others explaining that the myths surrounding them were not real.

She urged every carrier woman to see her nuclear family as the first community and constituency that must be well guarded and cared for irrespective of her tasking carrier stating that ” Charity begins at home”
