Yoruba Ko’ya kicks off restructuring crusade

Yoruba Ko’Ya Movement, a pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group, has kicked off awareness campaign across the six south west states to drum up support for the restructuring debate.

The group led massive campaigns to State House of Assemblies across the states where they were received by principal officers in the respective states.

The Movement is the brainchild of Otunba Ayodeji Osibogun, CEO SPACE FM Ibadan with prominent Yoruba leaders such as Pa. Ayo Adebanjo, Bishop Bolanle Gbonigi, Bishop Ayo Ladigbolu as Patrons.

Justifying the need for the campaign, its National Organising Secretary, Mr. Maxwell Adeyemi Adeleye, in a statement explained the overarching theme of the movement is ‘Sit out for restructuring crusade,’.

He said the intention is to reach out to the Houses of Assemblies within the region to be in the vanguard of those leading the quest for the restructuring of the country.

Members of the group, Adeleye recalled, marched from Ojodu-Berger area of the state to the Lagos State House of Assembly Alausa, Ikeja to present their policy paper on restructuring but were unable to meet the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa.

Besides, the Senior Special Assistant to Rt. Hon. Suraji Adekunbi, Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly on Political Matters, Hon. Waheed Akinola, who addressed the members of the Movement led by the state Coordinator, Comrade Timothy Odedina, with a promise by the Speaker and other members of the House to address the Movement later this Wednesday.
