EXCLUSIVE: Ladi Adebutu’s Aide, Gafar Asaolu, Detained Over Election Violence Allegations
Gafar Asaolu, personal assistant to former Ogun State governorship candidate Ladi Adebutu, has been arrested and detained by the police. The arrest stems from allegations that Asaolu led an attack on APC vice chairmanship candidate Hon. Muhammed Olaitan Efuwape during Saturday’s local government elections.
Reports indicate that Efuwape escaped with injuries, while another victim, Biola, suffered severe gunshot wounds to the legs and was rushed to a nearby hospital. The attack allegedly involved illegal policemen hired by Adebutu from Lagos and some PDP thugs.
Asaolu is currently being held at the Eleweran headquarters of the Ogun State Police Command. His lawyer accompanied him to the police station, where he was promptly detained.
This development follows the earlier arrest of Ladi Adebutu by the Department of State Services (DSS) and the police regarding the same incident.
