COVID-19: Ogun govt distributes food items to residents on Saturday

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, on Friday, unveiled an economic stimulus package for the indigent and the most vulnerable in the society.

This comes a few days after the state government issued a stay-at-home directive to residents in a bid to check the spread of COVID-19 in the state.

The stimulus, which comes in food packs, to be distributed to every local government areas in the state, is aimed at cushioning the effect of the 14- day stay-at-home directive.

The packages, according to the State Governor, contain staple food and essential hygiene items.

Citizens and residents are to expect the hand sanitizers produced by the State Ministry of Health, anti-bacterial soapbars, detergents and bottles of water, alongside the food items.

The Governor emphasised that the distribution exercise would be monitored to ensure equitable access for the people.

The purpose of the initiative, the Governor emphasised, is to make sure that the people remain well during the lockdown.Jj
