Buhari to APC members: give Tinubu your support, cooperation
President Muhammadu Buhari has urged members of the All Progress Congress (APC) to give maximum support and cooperation to the reconciliation committee headed by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Buhari made the appeal at the opening of the APC National Caucus meeting at the presidential villa, Abuja on Monday.
He said: “I have appointed a committee, headed by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, a leader of the Party, to reconcile differences in various states.
“We hope the committee will be given maximum support and cooperation to enable it to satisfactorily carry out its work and get the party united in purpose and in shape for the battles ahead,’’ he added.
The President had on the 6th of February appointed Mr. Tinubu to lead an APC consultation, reconciliation and confidence building team toward improving cohesion in the party ahead of the general elections in 2019.
But the former Governor of Lagos State in a letter of complaint to the APC chairman, Odigie-Oyegun and copied to President Buhari, on the 21st of February had accused the party chairman of sabotaging his reconciliation efforts in the party.
The letter, titled: “Actions and conduct weakening the party from within”, was also copied to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Bukola Saraki and House of Representatives Speaker Yakubu Dogara.
