Breaking: Odeda LG Graduates 300 Youths from skills acquisition programme

Beneficiaries of two-week free skills acquisition programme in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State have been advised to use the knowledge acquired during the training to improve their lives and make positive impacts on the society.

The Council Transition Chairman, Alhaji (Hon) Semiu Bola Lawal, gave the advice while delivering his keynote address during the graduation ceremony and presentation of certificates to over 300 beneficiaries.

While congratulating the beneficiaries on their achievements, Lawal, a Public Administrator reminded them of the essence of the training which he said was to ensure that they become self-reliant and think less of securing scarce or non-existent white collar jobs. He added that, with the completion of the training, they are qualified to be addressed as employers of labour and not job seekers.

The council Boss commended the Director of Operations of Necessary Measures against Poverty and Perversity (NEMAPP), Mrs. Gbemisola Ajetunmobi for partnering with the council in the planning and actualisation of the training.

Lawal said: “The 300 graduating today were drawn from different wards and units across the local government and have been trained for three categories of difference skills in six different areas, makeup, fabric, Home essentials, catering and others.”

Alhaji Lawal also commended the governor of the state, Prince Dapo Abiodun for the support and the leading by example through provision of enabling environment for local government authorities to strive.

The Olu of Odeda, HRH Oba David Olorunniso who represented by Cheif S.O Jinadun called on public-spirited Nigerians and other non-governmental organisations to support efforts of government at all levels to reduce the high rate of unemployment in Nigeria.

The graduation ceremony was attended by members of the council’s executive, Traditional rulers ; members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the council area, families and friends of the beneficiaries.
