Ijebu North-East Chairman, Folusho Badejo, Visits Communications Minister, Seeks Digital Development for Local Communities

ABUJA — The Executive Chairman of Ijebu North-East Local Government Area, Atan, Ogun State, Hon. Folusho Badejo, on Thursday, October 8, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Hon. Bosun Tijani, at his office in Abuja.

The visit focused on digital development, youth empowerment, improved telecommunications infrastructure and the expansion of digital services to communities across Ijebu North-East Local Government and Nigeria at large.

During the meeting, the Minister reaffirmed his commitment to promoting digital development at the grassroots level, with particular emphasis on creating opportunities for youth empowerment through technology and digital innovation.

Hon. Tijani also briefed the council chairman on key initiatives of the ministry aimed at accelerating Nigeria’s digital transformation. One of the programmes discussed was the implementation of the **POSTCODE app**, designed to facilitate the identification and location of addresses across different parts of Nigeria.

The Minister further highlighted plans to expand telecommunications infrastructure to underserved and unserved communities, ensuring that more Nigerians can access reliable communication services and benefit from the opportunities offered by the digital economy.

In his remarks, Hon. Folusho Badejo drew the Minister’s attention to the telecommunications challenges facing **Eyin-Osun community in Ward 3 of Ijebu North-East Local Government Area**. In response, the Minister directed relevant officers in his ministry to document the community for further attention.

The intervention is expected to bring the community’s connectivity needs to the attention of the appropriate authorities as efforts continue to extend telecommunications services to more rural areas.

The visit was described as successful, reflecting a shared commitment to leveraging technology, improving connectivity and creating new opportunities for young people and underserved communities.
