Sokoya Hails Dapo Abiodun’s Support as AMORAN Inaugurates New Executives in Ogun

The re-elected Chairman of the Articulate Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN), Otunba Taofeek Sokoya, has praised Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for what he described as the transformation of transport union operations in the state.

Sokoya made the remarks on Saturday during the inauguration of the newly elected executives of AMORAN at the union’s State Secretariat located at Car Wash, Adatan, Abeokuta.

Speaking shortly after taking the oath of office, the AMORAN chairman expressed gratitude to Governor Abiodun, describing him as a father figure and a strong supporter of the union and the transport sector in Ogun State.

According to him, the governor’s visionary leadership has repositioned transport unions in the state, moving them away from an era associated with hooliganism to one defined by orderliness, structure, and responsible unionism.

Sokoya also thanked members of his executive team and the entire AMORAN membership for their continued support and cooperation, noting that the achievements recorded by the union over the years were made possible through collective efforts and shared commitment.

He assured members that he would justify the confidence reposed in him and pledged to continue working towards maintaining AMORAN’s position as one of the leading transport unions in Ogun State.

Representing the Ogun State Commissioner for Transportation, Engr. Gbenga Dairo, at the event, Engr. Babatunde Omisakin commended AMORAN for its operational efficiency and unwavering support for government transportation policies.

Omisakin attributed the union’s stability and achievements to Sokoya’s leadership, describing AMORAN as a dependable partner in advancing the state government’s transportation agenda.

He urged the newly inaugurated executives to build on existing successes, remain committed to service, and continue upholding the values that have distinguished the union.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Parks and Garages Development Agency (PAGADA), Alhaji Lukman Adunmo, lauded Sokoya’s leadership qualities and contributions to the growth of the union. He encouraged him to sustain the progress recorded during his previous tenure and prayed for wisdom and guidance in the discharge of his duties.

The Ogun State Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Akeem Abiodun Lasisi, also commended the AMORAN leadership for maintaining peace and stability within the union.

According to Lasisi, the unity and harmony enjoyed by AMORAN have become a model for other organisations, urging members to continue supporting the leadership in the interest of sustained progress.

The inauguration ceremony attracted key stakeholders from the transportation and labour sectors, including the Chairman of the Riders and Owners of Motorcycle Organisation (ROMO), Alhaji (Dr.) Rasak Olusola Sotayo (Sholebo); member of the Ogun State House of Assembly representing Abeokuta South State Constituency II, Hon. Igbalaye Wasiu Ayodele; and former AMORAN Chairman, Otunba Nurudeen Aina Alowonle, among others.

The event formally ushered in a new administration expected to consolidate AMORAN’s achievements and strengthen its role in the development of Ogun State’s transportation sector.
