Breaking: Amosun detains Ogun Housing Corporation Staff

– in last minutes attempt to withdraw N390Million

The outgoing Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has ordered the detention of a staff of Ogun State Housing Corporation for refusing to cooperate with him in a last minute bid to withdraw N390 million from the account of the government agency.<Amosun

Another staff who is also a signatory to the account of Housing Corporation and who is also refusing to cooperate, has gone underground to evade arrest.

As the Amosun’s government winds down, he decided to sell three buildings that he had used the names of cronies to buy. He asked the people to pay into the accounts of the agency. A sum of N350 million was paid last Thursday. As soon as the money hit the account, the Commissioner for Finance caused a memo to be sent to the agency for the money to be immediately moved to an account where the money could be withdrawn, but this time around the memo asked that N390 million be moved out of the account. The account had N40 million previously.

Sensing the danger and consequences of this injury-time withdrawal, the two signatories at the Housing Corporation slipped away from office on Thursday and refused to come to work on Friday. Several calls were made to their mobile phones but, according to a reliable source, the staff were not picking their calls.

Governor Amosun therefore sent his security goons after the two staff. One of the staff was eventually arrested from his house and brought to the office this morning where he was forced to sign his own portion of the voucher and cheque. When it dawned on the Governor and his Finance Commissioner that they won’t get the other signatory who have absconded from office since Thursday, and they were yet to track him down as at this morning as he had switched off his two lines, the junior officer next to the signatory was coerced into signing the cheque and the voucher.

Now the cheque with one original signature and one fake signature has been deposited at Polaris Bank, Abeokuta, awaiting clearance.

An insiders source informed Newsacross that the State Director of the SSS has been informed, as one of his men, was allegedly involved in the manhunt of the OPIC staff.

It would be recalled that Newsacross had in its earlier report, listed names of top aides of Governor Amosun who may likely flee the country before or immediately after inauguration.

The postponement of Amosun’s trip out of the country may also not be unconnected with the N390 million slush funds that is yet to fall through from the Housing Corporation.
